This home fixture against Gloucestershire saw the county delivering a much improved performance compared with the two previous inter county matches. The final result was Worcestershire 12 points compared with 28 points for Gloucestershire. The county won 5 of the 16 individual games played and achieved 2 bonus points for a positive shot difference in the Fours. Overall Worcestershire scored 165 shots compared with 200 shots by Gloucestershire.
The morning session saw Jim Tingle win 11-9 having been ahead throughout his Singles game. In the Pairs Tyler Shuck and Ricard Rose were in the lead for 12 of their 15 end game. Gloucestershire, however, fought back strongly in the final three ends to win 15-11. There was another close Pairs game with Belinda Gibbs and Leah Bisseker leading 8-7 after the 13th end, only to lose 8-11 in the 15th . John Alder’s Fours team won their game 10-7 having led throughout the game. Wayne Berry’s Fours team also won. The team were behind for the first half of the game, level 7-7 after the 8th end, and then going on to win the final 3 ends to run out winning 11 shots to 7.
During the afternoon session Phil Arthurs-Thompson took the lead in the 8th end, maintained that lead for the remainder of the game, winning by 18 shots to 11. In the Pairs, Tyler Shuck and Richard Rose were heading for victory, leading 10-9 going into the final end. A strong response from Gloucestershire saw them snatch victory away from Tyler and Richard, with Gloucestershire winning by 2 shots. In the Fours, Wayne Berry’s team were exceptional. They won 10 of the 11 ends played, accumulating a massive total of 28 shots compared with Gloucestershire’s 3.
