This home fixture saw the county losing to West Midlands – 8 points for Worcestershire and 32 points for West Midlands. The county scored 141 shots with the West Midlands scoring 244.
Of the 16 individual games played the county had two wins in the singles and two wins in the Triples.
Morning Session
Jim Tingle, in his Singles game, had a very close contest with his opponent. Scores were level going into the 15th end at 11-11, the end which was won by Jim’s opponent by 1 shot. Phil Arthurs-Thompson, in his Singles game, led from the 3rd end and went on to have a convincing win 19-12. Both Pairs teams lost but in the Triples, June Green’s team won 10-9 in what was another very close contest. Terry Clifford’s team fought very hard in their Triples game and went into the final 13th end level at 10-10. Unfortunately their opponents took this end by 2 shots to win the game . Both Fours teams lost their games.
Afternoon Session.
In the Singles and in another closely contested game Phil achieved his second win of the day 12-10. Both Pairs teams lost their games . In the Triples, in what was another closely fought contest, Terry’s team went into the final end (end 13 ) of their game 1 shot down at 8-9, but with a strong team effort achieved a 5 shot win in that end to win their game 13-9. Both Fours teams lost their games.
